MANUBA Retrieved Craft
MANUBA - GDD Collection is a series of products created especially for the Gdynia Design Days festival. Each product is the fruit of a designer's collaboration with a craftsman. Apart from the final effect the exchange of experiences between the designer who comes up with a new design idea and a master craftsman is also important.
Sometimes the circumstances force us to go beyond the established schemes. It is due to problems – both the known and the unknown – that we need to use solutions which we have not used before. How can we cope with such crises?
rECOnsider Design | EcoDesign Circle Project
The carefully selected eco-projects presented at the "rECOnsider Design" exhibition are intended to encourage visitors to consider their daily habits in order to reduce the negative impact of human activities on the environment, without sacrificing quality or the unique character of items. The accompanying series of lectures will introduce entrepreneurs, lecturers, students as well as the broader audience to the potential of eco design and circular economy.
infuture food lab

The ABCs of Polish design
It's not easy to show 100 years of Polish design limiting oneself to just 100 objects. How to choose the most important ones? How to avoid the temptation to show icons only? How to capture the interest of more than just experts? How can we present the diversity of fields within design?
Młodzi na Start - Elle Decoration
For the sixth time Elle Decoration in co-operation with Gdynia Design Center, acting as a patron, had organized a competition “Młodzi na start” (“Young Talents”) aimed at beginning designers, students and graduates of art schools. The theme of this year's edition was "SMALL INTERIORS, GRAND DESIGNS!"

ASP Diplomas: Architecture and Design
What is design? - this is a question often asked by the commission during the entrance examination at the Academy of Fine Arts. However, not only the potential future designers, but also the whole design industry and the scientific world are struggling with the answer.
Peconheiros - project in Amazonia
The impact of civilization on the environment and on the quality of life is unquestionably high. We take a closer look at design in the communities which are based on different models and values.
The Table of Ideas
During GDD, The Design Alive magazine goes back to traditional values: you are invited to the table, to take part in the meetings, discussions (up-close and personal, not virtual) and to read and write letters (in paper form!).
100 yers of De Stijl revolution – Dutch design
The concept of the exebition coresponds very well with the slogan of the 2017 Festival, which is „Storm“ but also with the celebration of 100 years of De Stijl movement. In this case the II world war was the storm, which exelerated in Netherlands the process of walking away of the traditional bourgoi interior.
Retrospekcje. Polish design of early 21st century
The exhibition traces the motifs related to the 50s and 60s design in contemporary Polish projects of applied arts. The displayed pieces show how well the native designers can combine elements of old design with the climate of modernity.
Weaves on the wave
The exhibition Weaves on the Wave combines the love for basketry - a traditional craft - with design. It is the result of workshops of the Serfenta Association and the Faculty of Industrial Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow.
The international exhibition Roundabout Baltic showcases achievements of designers from the stretch of the Baltic Sea in a broad cultural and visual context. The Roundabout Baltic exhibition is a personal narration, which portrays the visual connection between the designers, their work and the seaside landscape etched into their creative sensitivity through design, usable and decorative objects.
Oskar Zięta - Polish Designs Polish Designers
As users, we can see that design surrounds us every day. The completed projects of buildings, objects, technical devices make our world. But what makes a given design good? How to distinguish good design from poor design? Finally: how does a good product come into being?
Let the wind blow!
When we decide to visit a gallery, a store or other exhibition space, we expect the space to be ready, arranged, orderly and aesthetically consistent. We expect to see a static and motionless surface.
A storm that cannot be seen
Can we appreciate the value of a product?
Let’s talk about garbage
The exhibition proposed by Kowalski and Szczelina faces the global problem of waste overproduction. Our modern consumerist societies neglect the “after-life” of their mass-produced items, packed-tight in successive layers of plastics. The stake of “Let’s talk about garbage” is an attempt to present new, alternative strategies of coping with the flood of waste pouring down the streets of our cities.
The Design in the City
The Design in the City is a presentation of Polish products in the field of industrial design for the eating place's interiors of the Tri-City. Even before the festival begins, the café and restaurant regulars will have the opportunity to discover innovative designs and well-designed items.
Touch, smell, listen, be alert!
This years leading word – STORM – gives us a large field of interpretation. It leads us to the dynamism competing with calmness; change as a consequence of natural processes.
