Hard analysis and forecasts, which until now had served as design fuel, have become insufficient if we are aiming to consciously create the future we want. This Design Challenge aims to show how to use the tools for analysis and project work with a view toward building long-term development prospects for the organization, with a potential to serve future generations and the environment.

This Design Challenge is intended for business owners, leaders, entrepreneurs, consultants, designers, representatives of the marketing department, product development and R&D. The focus is on how to use speculative design to navigate change in business.

Speculative design is a catalyst for change and a medium to initiate a discussion about the future. Hard analysis and forecasts, which until now had served as design fuel, have become insufficient if we are aiming to consciously create the future we want. Designing not only from the mind but also from the heart sensitizes and takes into account the relationships between business, people, community and the environment. Hence, it helps the organization thrive and allows it to develop in the long run. Designing is a field associated with hard analysis. A logical mind is necessary in design, but is not enough on its own. If we want to contribute to the future we care about, we need a new, loving attitude. This soft approach is the next degree of initiation in speculative design. Not only does it allow for asking the “What if ...?” question, but also to formulate answers.

During the Design Challenge, we will get acquainted with proprietary tools used in the fields of trend forecasting and speculative design to analyse business results and tendencies.  We will also take into account the connection between business, people, community and the environment. We will suggest how to use the tools for analysis and project work with a view toward building long-term development prospects for the organization, with a potential to serve future generations and the environment.

Please carefully choose the workshops and Design Challenges as they take place in parallel. It is only possible to participate in one workshop and one Design Challenge in total.
